Does the UGI yield as much information as the gastrograffin swallow?
I am possibly considering a specific surgeon but he recommends that after surgery I have a test called "gastrograffin swallow" to test for leaks and/or problems. This is done under fluoroscopy (x-ray). The problem is my current weight of about 500 exceeds the limit of the table that is used for testing Other doctors do a UGI which I believe tests the same thing The first doctor wants me to get down to 350 sohe can perform the swallow test. I know that the determination of whether or not thier are leaks and or problems is VERY important. My question is this: Is the information yeilded by each procedure equivalent or is the UGI accurate enough to determine if there is any leakage or other problems? Please let me know if you can...Thanks
