Has anyone switched insurance to a insurer who will cover the operation?

My insurance company will cover Gastric Bypass, however I am being declined because the company I work for has chosen not to cover this surgery in their plan. Has anyone had success in switching insurance providers? More specifically I want to know if anyone has been APPROVED when insured on their own and not through their employer's insurance. I live in Decatur, IL (central illinois). I appreciate all answers and any suggestions!!! Thank you so much!
