How many mg of Biotin is recommended for hair loss.

I am taking all the vitamins suggested by my surgeon and added other that he suggest for hair loss. My good friend told me about Biotin and how it has helped her retain her hair through post op. Does anyone know of the mg I should be using for Biotin to help prevent or decrease hair loss?
