Is there a doctor that performs this RNY on persons over 50 in Canada?

I was referred to a surgeon in Ottawa by my personal physician who agrees that I need help...The nurse/secretary told me when I called to confirm my appointment that he doesn't do anyone over 50 years old...Is this the normal age or just this particular doctor...any help is much appreciated....Shirley
