Is geocities a dependable place to place a website?

I've noticed that several of my peers have elaborate and extensive webpages detailing their WLS journey. I was wondering is this one of the more dependable places to place a website. I am fearful of creating an extensive journal and have all of the information lost. Any suggestions from my WLS siblings is greatly appreciated as I value the opinions that are given.
