is dumping a temporary thing?

I rececntly went to a pre-op education class and one of the women that was teaching it (she had wls a few years ago) said that dumping is something that happens after surgery when you eat sugar or fat but eventually it will not effect us this way, is this true? Will we not dump after awhile?
