What else can cause no monthly cycle?

This is scaring me..... I have talked with my doctor about me not having my period in 2 months and he says it because of the stress I am going thru with this waiting on surgery approval. Well, I have been approved (surgery date November 27th) and I still haven't seen my cycle. What's going on? Has this happened to anyone before? I know I am not pregnant. Could it be because of the weight I have put on in the last 2 months?
