Friends wedding

Well, I just found out today that I'm approved YEAH!! The surgeon called w/ my date sept 14, 01. Now one of my best friends is getting married on sept 22, 01. He knows I will have just had surgery and wont be able to help in prep, serving, ect. However will I be ready to attend a formal function at 1 week out? Sitting for long times, ect. Any advice would be great.
