What kind of surgery does Dr. Hocking prefer?

What kind of surgery does Dr. Hocking seem to prefer to do open or lap?I know i should probably not concern myself with this till I am able to seeHim.But my spouse has concerns and I am trying to educated him the best that I can. What types seem to be better lap or open and what type does Dr. Hocking prefer.
