What is sugar alcohol?

I bought some Sugar Free POPSICLES and I guess I am not a too smart of a person, ( At least I was reading the ingredients not to dum huh) but it said Sugar =0 Grams and Sugar Alcohol=3 Grams. I have never heard of Sugar Alchol, so can any of you tell me what this is and can I have these kind of popsicles????? Thanks>>>>Jay Biller
