Why not freeze soup?

Ok, Vickie, you can probably answer this one, but I'll take any answers I can get. I hear so much about people having to throw away food cuz they can't eat that much. My husband is a sticklier for wasting food. So, I was wondering, why can't we freeze soup individually in ice cube trays, and then just freeze them in freezer bags? Then we can just pop one in the microwave and enjoy. Plus, probably just the right size for a small meal.
