Would god approve of surgery?

I have friends and family that believe that this is against the word of god to alter what god gave you. If it isn't medically necessary. I do believe that god can supernaturally change my body but, I also believe god uses this surgery as a tool. Why else would he give man the ablity to concieve how to do it?Some one help!!!!!
