Do surgeons turn people down often?

This is probably just jitters: I have my surgeon consultation in 2 days, and I somehow have a fear that I might be turned down for surgery, even though I meet the criteria. I'm 36 BMI with diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol, and some arthritis. My fear is that because I'm not that big, and my comorbidities are pretty well controlled by medication, she might say I don't need the surgery, now that I'm REALLY eager to do it.
