Help! What can I take post op for a bad cough post op?

I'm six months out and have a cold with a nasty cough. It has kept me up the last couple of nights and I'm wondering what I can take for it - Neo citeron used to be my bedtime drink of choice when I was ill - what now? Thanks so much!!
