Incision Infected

HELP!! I went to the doctor today (3 1/2 weeks post op) and I have an infection in my incision. The doctor dug in my draining hole and made it 25 inches deep to be packed. Has anyone else had a large deep incision to be packed and how long can I expect it to take to heal. He said if I aren't better by Wed. he will put me in the hospital with IV antibotics.
