Can I get the lap band procedure done if I have a hernia?

I have been researching this issue, and have not yet attended the local seminar (which is in August), and I can not find anything about the Lap Band and having a hernia. I have a hiatal hernia and am concerned whether or not this will prevent me from having this done.
