need some advice on insurance.

I am wondering if anyone knows the best insurance plan to look for. I currently do not have medical insurance due to my employer not providing it, I have been without it for approximately 1 year. Previously I had been with Kaiser So Cal for 23 years... would I be better off going back to Kaiser or could someone recommend another alternative??? Your help is greatly appreciated.
