Growling stomach I thought was to be a thing of the past???

My sister had her surgery Nov 5th and doing good so far. But she said her stomach is growling and she feels hungry all the time. Has anyone else come across this? Is this normal? I thought I read that this was to stop after surgery. Your help would be appriciated.
