What is the verdict on non-impact carbs?
I just started (again) back on lower carb eating to control these insane cravings I've been having...two days counting, so far so good. I just want to know how you all feel about the new products that list carbs then the non impact carbs. Are your expiriences with only counting the "impact" carbs pretty good? I had a few of the Atkins/Keto bars yesterday...how many of those suckers is overboard? I did have those along with regular low carb meals..so it wasn't the only thing I ate. Also, I'm wondering what you longer term posties try to keep your carb count at. I know I won't be able to do the 20-30 g like the Atkins program. My primary goals are to loose the five I've gained, plus an additional 10 lbs and to maintain my blood sugar levels since I've developed hypoglycemia as a result of surgery. Is 40-50g out of the question? I did right around 40 g yesterday and the cravings have subsided considerably (I've been on a sweets food frenzy for over a month now until yesterday). I'm just wondering if I can continue with that range and possibly loose the last bit of weight. Should I also count calories and fat intake? If so, what kind of limitations are we talking about? I don't need to loose this weight like yesterday, but the next six months would be nice. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Also I was wondering if there as a non Adkins type website available for basic low carb q&a. Thanks folks! -Kim open RNY 7/17/01 282/135ish/125ish
