Has anyone's hernia site get tender?

I just found out that I have a incisional hernia - called my surgeon's office and since it is NOT protuding, they said just come in on my regular appointment....Feb 19th. However, sometimes at night, it's tender in the area of my hernia...anyone ever experience this. I am 7 1/2 months post op...also, am I automatically a candidate for hernia repair?? Thanx Karan
