Addiction. How can I get off the pain medicine perscribed after my surgery?

I was given Roxicet Elixer upon my discharge. I am now addicted to the medicine. Every time I try to stop taking it I get severe withdrawl symptoms including anxiety attacks. Other wise I am doing great. I have even started watering the medicine down in an effort to get off it. Help!
