How do I nicelt ask the surgeon to make an acception on his protocol?

I have 3rd stage liver fibrosis and my surgeon sends you home with liquid Lortab. Lortab is a drug that is filtered straight thru your liver. I asked the pharmisist what he thought and he suggested a low dose pain patch that will still filter thru the liver but the drug is also absorbed slowly thru the whole system. Any suggestions?
