Has anyone sued their surgeon (or hospital) for malpractice?

I see info. on the site about people thinking about filing a malpractice claim but I don't see that anyone has. If there is anyone who has gone as far as obtaining a med. mal. atty. I'd be interested in hearing from you, even if you were told by the atty. there was no case to be had.
