Can someone please tell me exactly what a stree test is, and it entails? How will it

My doctor has informed me that is some abnormality in my echocardiogram, and I have to go see a Cardiologist. She said something about a hole in my heart not completely closing up I think that means I have a hole in my heart right? Has anyone had this? Did it affect you having surgery?
