Need Advise on Motels in San Diego Area near Airport

I need to find and reserve a room near the San Diego airport for the night before I fly back home following surgery. I'll be only 5 days post op from abdominal surgery and not up to doing flights of stairs. I'm hoping someone familiar with the San Diego area can give me some recommendations. As a woman, I'll be staying alone so would like to stay away from undesirable areas yet I'm also on a tight budget. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
