Help me with my decision.

I have just started my journey and went to my first support group meeting to find out that no one can see the behovior specialist for six months so it would probly take a year to get a surgery date and I contacted another doctor who told me my journey would take from 4 to 6 months including to get a surgery date so I switched to her did I do the right thing?
