Does anyone know how to get the insurance to cover this procedure?

I am 1 year post-op today. I have my appointment tonight with my dr. He has found a small hernia at the incision site, which I am told is common. He wants to fix it next year, which is fine, my insurance will cover the hospital stay for that procedure and the operating room/costs. Is there any way to get the insurance to cover the removal of the skin which I hope to get done at the same time? Any advise would be much appreciated! Thank you!
