Has anyone had high blood pressure after surgery?

My blood pressure before surgery (on 5/30) was always normal. But since then it's been climbing higher and higher. Went to my PCP today...was 144/110!!! So I lose 30 lbs and get put ON blood pressure meds??? Any advice out there?
