4 1/2 hours away from Surgeon should I travel after release or stay

We live 41/2 hours away from the BTC center in Belvidere that I plan to have my surgery. My husband and I have discussed me staying at a Extended Stay hotel after the surgery to ensure if I have any problems that my Dr. can help. Any advice on travel 3 days after, I know several of you have travelled to go home, but I don't think I found anyone that rode more than 3 hours in a car. Please help me try and make this decision.
