Should I accept the date given, would have to put school on hold.

I'm a nursing student and I have medicaid, I just received approval with a tentative date for 04/02/03. I would have to drop out the rest of the semester to have surgery. What i'm afraid of is I wait to the end of the semester and my medicaid gets canceled for some reason before my surgery date.
