How can a hernia the size of a small basket ball..

that is gonna be repaired with a T/T still get a half way flat stomach? I am scheduled to have a hernia repair with a T/T and gall bladder removal in two weeks. My hernia feels so hard. I wonder how they can make my stomach flat. Anybody ever wonder about when they had there done? What was the outcome. I know we are all different.
