Has anyone out there ever had a collapsed lung?

I had surgery a few years ago and both of my lungs collapsed afterwards. It wasn't due to the surgery, just poor care afterwards. Now I have breathing problems and cough a lot. I have been diagnosed with cough varient asthma, which pretty much means most smells and temperature changes cause me to cough. I am wondering if this will effect my surgery in any way?
