Has anyone had a problem with Zinc?

Hi guys, just a quick question for ya. My hair has really started to fall out, (just started 3 month) and my doc told me to take Zinc. I bought 50mg and ever since day one have felt really sick in the stomach. I stopped it today after realizing it was because of the Zinc and I wonder if Im taking too high of a dosage. I mean I felt real bad after taking it. Any one else have this problem or have a suggestion. I am nervous even to cut it in half for I was completely useless the entire day with a whole.
