My physician wants me to spend the week after surgery closer to him.

I live three hours away from the hospital and my doctor. He has asked that I spend the week following surgery nearer to his office just in case I should have any problems. I live in rural Maine and my doctor wants me closer. I will be staying at a Motel with a kitchen area and could use any suggestion that might make my stay more comfortable. What should I have with me the first week after surgery beside lots of juices and water etc. Thanks for any helpful suggestions.
