Has anyone appealed to employer because they did not purchase the rider?

My husband's job did not purchase the rider and therefore we have a wls exclusion. My only hope is to appeal to my husband's employer. Does anyone have any ideas or info they could share with me...what to write, what to include, etc. Thanks!!!
