Extended Distal Surgery- Did anyone have it?
I had gastric bypass in July of 2000. Not too successful. A difficult surgery. Three weeks afterwards I was back in the hospital with a pulminary embolis even though they put in a greenfield filter. Now my doc wants to do an extended distal, going back in and bypassing almost all of my intestines. Currently there is six ft. bypassed. Has anyone had to go this additional route to be successful? How was it for you? How long was the surgery? How was your recovery? How successful has it been for you? Also I know vitamin intake is extremely critical at this point. What do you take and what kinds of foods do you eat? I am scared, frustrated and trying to make this critical decision again. This is the only place I can turn to for support. My family really knows nothing and cannot be supportive because they just don't know what to do. I would like to hear any advice you could give me. Thanks!
