Why is it bad to have more then 8oz of water in an hour?

I am a little over two months out from an RNY and I was wondering why it was bad to drink over 8oz of water in an hour. Now that I have been able to drink it with out my stomach hurting (it was hard to get my water in at the beginning) I find that I can chug it without any problem. Is this bad? If so why?
