How does lapband surgery differant as far as dietary resrictions compared to gastric

I am addicted to sweets .I am considering Lap band surgery. By eating sweets foods post op will I still get sick from it like gastric bypass surgery? I kind of hope so; because I think it would help me to change for the better. thanks Pat
