What do can be done about the pre for colon screening?

When my husband had this done they gave him a jug of stuff to drink. I don't think I could drink that much? I am also not sure if it will make me sick. I know contrast for some tests will. Has anyone dealt with this proceedure and what did you do about the pre drink?
