what birth control is everyone using, having problems with depo

I am currently on depo, but I can't stand it, its 3 weeks of a period with one week not having one, or else just a constant flow for the whole month. Does anyone have this problem with the depo shot? Its only my 2nd shot, so wondering if this problem will eventually fix itself? I was told not to take pills...just curious what advice others have on birth control
