ROUX EN Y LAPAROSCOPIC VERSUS GASTRECTOMY LAPAROSCOPIC SLEEVE

I am scheduled for the older roux en y laparoscopic surgery. Has anyone had the newer gastrectomy laparoscopic sleeve. My surgeon says 1000 or more have been done in the U.S. I am having doubts, on my scheduled surgery, versus the new sleeve procedure. The newer sleeve does not bypass any of the intestines, and there are not malabsorption problems. please give your thoughts, feedback or advice. many thanks
