How ( tests) was your problem diagnosed correctly and who determined it (MD or GI)

I am wondering for those that have suffered post op complications years after RNY what tests finally determined the problem and who was it that finally found the problem. What are the common things that happen with the bowels making havoc on life for us. My situation is I know there is something not right about the abdominal pain, distention, and other symtoms I have had since my last pregnancy 2 years ago but with so many disorders that can occurr it is difficult to know who the best person is to see and explain the lenghty symptoms. The majority of people will say go to the surgeon that did your procedure - however after bieng a nurse for 3 years now I know they don't always do the tests to find out the cause of the problem and they frequently relocate. Is a GI specialist the best way to go? 7 years post op
