Has anyone experienced throwing up blood?

I had gastric surgery 5/12/9 about 11 wks ago. In the last 3 weeks or so I have been occasionally throwing up blood with items I need to purge. I have been eating slowly & I believe I am chewing throughly. Still I having and have had problem with textured,dense,heavy food since I was able to have them. Staples have been yogurt and cheese sticks. Occasionally I can do thin chicken tenders and ground beef in chili and a few other things however not consistantly. I didn't want to call the doctor they may want me to come in & my co-pays are high. Please help. thanks
