Illeffects of gastric bypass surgery with a BMI of 41

Please, I sure hope someone responds. I really hate to say this, but the negative comments come from gals that are heavy. Is there any truth to this concern? I heard that if you are not morbidly obese, gastric bypass surgery is not a good thing. I had a 41 BMI, I am 6 months out and I am at goal, and I have lost 106 lbs. This is one reason why I do not like to tell folks that I had GBS, people can be so mean and jealous.
