How do I get my surgeons office to correctly go about the authorization process?

Ok long story real quick. Was approved for RNY 03/07 with first surgeon. Three weeks before surgery found out I was pregnant. Now trying to get authorization for RNY with new surgeon closer to home and better bed side manner but person doing authorization ( doctor's son!!!) doesn't know what he is doing. It has taken a month to get everything to insurance company and get an answer back and it was denied due to lack of supporting documentation!!! I am so frustrated and sad. I was a surgery authorizations coordinator for a doctor for 9 years and know this doctor's son doesn't know what he is doing. He is new at this. I need some advise on what to do. Thanks
