why do i get such terrible hunger pains

I had bypass in May, I have lost 60 lbs and love it. I would do it all over again. But when I get hungry, the hunger pains are so intense that they make me nauseaus and I am doubled over almost. I just don't understand. Has anyone ever heard of this before? Help please
