birth control : mirena (IUD)

recently at my last gyno appointment my dr and i spoke about birth control option. She didn't want to put me on any pills because my blood pressure is borderline, anyway so she suggested MIRENA the IUD...she gave me some information on it... also i looked up in the questions but most of the answers were old ... so if you use this as a method of birth control, does it work for you ? have you had any complications?
