Doctor whats me to lose 40 before he will do the surgery?

I was in to see the doctor and he whats me to lose 40 pounds in Two months. He also said he wants to do the lap band. I wanted to have the bypass. He said tha band would be safer due to I have CHF. I also weigh 330 pounds and he then said he may have to cut me open. Has anyone had this happen? He said it could come apart if he does the bypass. Help please....
