Need info re: EGD and stoma-tightening procedure
I'm 2 yrs post lap RNY; got down from 290# to 205# in the first 10 months, plateau'ed for about 8 months because I cut back on exercise and wasn't controlling what I ate. I never dump. Then in the past 6 months I've started gaining (15#), but I figured it was because I had quit working out at all and was in even worse control of my eating. Went in for 2-yr check w/ my surgeon figuring he'd give me the "see the nutritionist, get back to exercising" speech, which he did - but he also wants to do the procedure where they inject the stoma to cause it to scar and tighten up. I know the procedure isn't a huge deal, not painful, etc. and I understand how it could possibly help someone who has a loose stoma, but I don't know that I do. I get full quickly on very dense foods - I don't think I can eat more than 2/3c of beef or chicken - but in an hour I'll feel hungry again. I follow the rules re: drinking before/during/after meals. I'd like to hear from someone who's had this done -- did it help? Any unexpected problems? Any regrets? Any problems with insurance covering it? Any info would be appreciated.
