Lapband or Gastric Bypass?

I am trying to choose between lapband or gastric bypass. My BMI is 52(same as my age). I am not concerned about how quick the weight comes off. I just want to be around for grandchildren, However, I have read so much about patients with lap band not losing or regaining the weight. I am trying to keep an open mind. The more I study the long term results the more I am confused. I have chosen a wonderful doctor. He has advised me on both. I need to make a decision. Please advise.
